HOW THE SCAM WORKS
1. Tourist takes a taxi from a busy area
2. Driver uses fast/tampered meter or takes a longer route
3. Tourist pays with cash
4. Driver switches note and claims incorrect payment
WATCH FOR THIS
WARNING SIGNS
• Meter running unusually fast
• Driver avoids direct routes
• Quickly handling cash out of sight
• Claims wrong amount was given
